Fünf Pennies (1959)
Red Nichols ist ein Trompeter aus einer Kleinstadt, der in den 1920ern sein Glück New York City versucht. Tatsächlich findet er einen Platz in einer kleinen Band, die von Will Paradise geführt wird. Red verliebt sich in die Sängerin Bobbie Meredith, heiratet sie und gründet gemeinsam mit ihr die Dixieland-Band "Die fünf Pennies". Die Band feiert großen Erfolg, als ihre kleine Tochter Dorothy jedoch an einer Kinderlähmung erkrankt, beschließen Red und Bobbie, die Musik an den Nagel zu hängen. Erst Jahre später findet die nun zum Teenager herangewachsene Dorothy heraus, welch tolle Musikkarriere ihre Eltern einst hatten, und schmiedet einen Plan: Sie will ihre Eltern dazu bringen, eine Comeback-Tour zu starten!
