Maxine Peake (* 14. Juli 1974) ist eine englische Bühnen-, Radio-, Film- und Fernsehschauspielerin, Dramatikerin, Produzentin, Regisseurin und politische Aktivistin. Bekannt wurde sie durch ihre Rolle als Twinkle in Victoria Woods Sitcom „Dinnerladies“. Seitdem spielte sie Veronica in der in Manchester spielenden Channel-4-Dramaserie „Shameless“, die Anwältin Martha Costello in der BBC-Anwaltsserie „Silk“ und Grace Middleton in „The Village“. Sie ist auch eine versierte Bühnenschauspielerin und verkörperte die Titelrolle in „Hamlet“ sowie eine Rolle in dem Film „Die Entdeckung der Unendlichkeit“ (2014). 2018 spielte sie die Hauptrolle in dem Film „Funny Cow“ und hatte eine Hauptrolle in Mike Leighs Epos „Peterloo“, einem Film, der ihr sehr am Herzen liegt.
