Nathan Lane, geboren als Joseph Lane am 3. Februar 1956 in Jersey City, New Jersey, ist ein gefeierter US-amerikanischer Schauspieler, der für seine Arbeit auf der Bühne und im Film bekannt ist. Er ist seit 1975 in der Unterhaltungsbranche tätig und wurde mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet, darunter drei Tony Awards, sieben Drama Desk Awards, ein Laurence Olivier Award, drei Emmy Awards und ein Screen Actors Guild Award. Lane gab sein professionelles Theaterdebüt 1978 in einer Off-Broadway-Produktion von „Ein Sommernachtstraum“. Er erlangte große Bekanntheit durch seine Rollen in Broadway-Produktionen wie „A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum“, „The Producers“ und „Angels in America“. Zu seinen Filmen zählen „Der König der Löwen“, „The Birdcage“, „Mäusejagd“ und „The Producers“. Neben seiner Bühnen- und Filmarbeit war Lane in verschiedenen Fernsehserien zu sehen, darunter „Modern Family“, „The Good Wife“ und „Only Murders in the Building“. Er ist seit 2015 mit Devlin Elliott verheiratet.
