Julie Bishop (30. August 1914 – 30. August 2001) war eine US-amerikanische Film- und Fernsehschauspielerin. Zwischen 1923 und 1957 wirkte sie in über 80 Filmen mit. Bishop wurde als Jacqueline Wells geboren und verwendete ihren Geburtsnamen bis 1941 beruflich. Sie trat auch als Diane Duval auf (und spielte in einem Film mit). Bereits als Kind stand sie vor der Kamera und begann ihre Karriere 1923. Anfangs wirkte sie in mehreren Laurel-und-Hardy-Filmen mit (z. B. „Any Old Port!“ und „The Bohemian Girl“). Den Namen, unter dem sie heute am bekanntesten ist, wählte sie, nachdem Warner Bros. ihr einen Vertrag unter der Bedingung angeboten hatte, dass sie ihren Namen änderte. Dieser war bis 1941 mit ihren fast ausschließlichen Auftritten in B-Filmen verbunden (insgesamt fast 50 Filme in 17 Jahren). Sie entschied sich für den Namen, weil er zu den Monogrammen auf ihrem Gepäck passte (sie war zeitweise mit dem Schriftsteller Walter Booth Brooks III. verheiratet). Sie drehte 16 Filme für Warner Bros., darunter eine Nebenrolle in „Princess O'Rourke“ (1943) an der Seite von Olivia de Havilland und Robert Cummings. Während der Dreharbeiten lernte sie ihren zweiten Ehemann, den Piloten Clarence Shoop, kennen. Sie spielte Humphrey Bogarts Partnerin in „Action in the North Atlantic“ (1943), verkörperte Ira Gershwins Ehefrau in der Filmbiografie „Rhapsody in Blue“ (1945) und beendete ihre Zeit bei Warner Bros. 1946 mit „Cinderella Jones“. 1949 spielte Bishop in „The Sands of Iwo Jima“ an der Seite von John Wayne eine vom Pech verfolgte Ehefrau und Mutter. Sie gehörte zu den ehemaligen Wayne-Kolleginnen (darunter Laraine Day, Ann Doran, Jan Sterling und Claire Trevor), die 1954 in dem Fliegerdrama „The High and the Mighty“ mit ihm zusammenarbeiteten. Julie Bishop war dreimal verheiratet. Aus ihrer zweiten Ehe mit General Clarence A. Shoop, einem Testpiloten, der für Howard Hughes flog und später Vizepräsident von Hughes Aircraft wurde, hatte sie einen Sohn, Steve, Arzt und Pilot, und eine Tochter, die Schauspielerin Pamela Susan Shoop. Die Ehe hielt von 1944 bis zu seinem Tod im Jahr 1968. Ihre erste Ehe wurde geschieden, ihre dritte mit ihrem Tod. Julie Bishop starb am 30. August 2001, ihrem 87. Geburtstag, in Mendocino, Kalifornien, an einer Lungenentzündung.
