Biografie:

Damir Andrei ist ein in Zagreb, Kroatien, geborener Regisseur und Schauspieler. 1963 kam er im Alter von acht Jahren mit seinen Eltern nach Montreal und sprach weder Englisch noch Französisch. Er absolvierte die National Theatre School of Canada mit einer Schauspielausbildung, die von Douglas Rain inspiriert war. Damir Andrei arbeitete häufig am inzwischen aufgelösten Phoenix Theatre in Montreal und inszenierte dort unter anderem „Sexual Perversity in Chicago“. Viele seiner Regiearbeiten entstanden am Centaur Theatre in Montreal, darunter „Bordertown Café“, „The Main“, „Playboy of the West Indies“ und „The Friedman Family Fortune“. Er arbeitete außerdem beim Blyth Festival, am Canadian Stage und am National Arts Centre. Andreis Stil ist unaufdringlich und textorientiert. Heute lebt er in Toronto, wo er in zahlreichen Film- und Fernsehproduktionen mitwirkte, darunter „Dead Ringers“ (1988) und „Slings and Arrows“ (2003).
