La agente especial De Long está tras la pista de un peligroso criminal que ha secuestrado a un adolescente, pero una vez detenido la víctima de este psicópata se suicida lo que provoca en De Long un gran sentimiento de frustación. Es entonces cuando se plantea abandonar la policía y así dedicarle más tiempo a su hijo.
