Up the Junction (1968)
Aburrida por la vida cómoda que lleva en Chelsea, Polly se muda al monótono barrio obrero de Battersea, en Londres, cerca de la estación de ferrocarril Clapham Junction, y toma un puesto en una fábrica de caramelos, en donde se hace amiga de dos hermanas, Rube y Sylvie. Después de mudarse a un piso sucio, Polly va a comprar muebles a una tienda de chatarra y se encuentra con Peter, un joven empleado del lugar. Él la invita a salir y ella acepta. A pesar de que Polly está fascinada por su nuevo entorno, Peter sólo ve en él pobreza y fealdad. Algún tiempo después, Polly se entera de que Rube está embarazada de su novio Terry, y la acompaña a un abortista de mala reputación. Rube finalmente anuncia su compromiso con Terry, pero en la noche de la celebración, Terry muere en un accidente de motocicleta. Angustiada por los problemas de sus amigas,
