Una famosa escritora alquila una casa para pasar el verano y comenzar otra novela. Una vez instalada conoce a su vecino, un joven escultural por el que empieza a sentirse fuertemente atraída. Observándolo desde la ventana encuentra la inspiración que necesita para escribir. Pero un día, una vecina entrometida se cuela en su casa y descubre varias fotografías del joven. Al día siguiente, éste aparece asesinado y la escritora se convierte en la principal sospechosa.
