El doctor Arnprior se traslada a vivir a Montana con su familia, huyendo del estrés de la gran ciudad. Pero su plácida vida se volverá un infierno cuando el 80% de la población, incluidos su mujer y su hijo, son víctimas mortales de un virus desconocido. Solo con su pequeña hija el doctor está seguro de que el origen de la enfermedad no esta en la naturaleza sino en las manos del hombre.
