Trois amis d'enfance font une farce qui tourne mal et inventent un ami imaginaire afin qu’il porte le chapeau : Ricky Stanicky ! Vingt ans plus tard, Ricky est toujours leur alibi pour justifier leur immaturité. Leurs familles ont des doutes et exigent de rencontrer le légendaire Stanicky.
