Un tueur sous influence (1974)
Neal Mottram est antiquaire. Son commerce ne marchant pas très bien, il se livre à des rituels de magie noire, vénérant une divinité africaine du nom de Chuku dont il possède une représentation en bois dans son sous-sol. Afin que celle-ci lui apporte protection et richesse, il décide de lui faire des offrandes bien particulières et se met à assassiner des gens en guise de sacrifices humains. Petit à petit, la santé mentale de Neal Mottram vacille et il s'enfonce de plus en plus dans la folie, persuadé d'être possédé par l'esprit de Chuku. La police, alertée par ces meurtres inquiétants, mène l'enquête...
