Johnnie Aysgarth est un joueur séduisant, masquant son oisiveté par son charme. Il rencontre la douce et riche Lina MacKinlaw dans un train, essayant de voyager en première classe avec un billet de troisième. Il lui fait la cour et l'épouse rapidement.
