Eliot Arnold travaille dans une agence de publicité, mais il aspire au métier de journaliste. Son fils Matt n'est qu'un fainéant. Ce dernier a pour amie Jenny Herk, dont la mère, Anna, s'est remariée avec Arthur, un homme qui court sans arrêt après Nina, leur domestique. Arthur ne le sait pas, mais sa tête est mise à prix. Deux tueurs à gages, Henri et Leonard, ont été engagés pour l'éliminer. Mais les choses vont terriblement se compliquer...
