Lorsqu'elle intègre le service postal de New York, Shane est affectée par erreur à l'identification des courriers en attente dont elle doit compléter les adresses mal libellées pour leur acheminement. Le cas d'une lettre, écrite un an plus tôt, la touche particulièrement. Il s'agit d'une lettre d'amour de Kelly à Charlie qu'elle vient de rencontrer et avec qui le coup de foudre a été total.
