The Daughter (2015)
Dans un petit village australien, Christian revient pour le mariage de son père Henry. Parti plusieurs années auparavant à New York, Christian retrouve son ami d’enfance, Oliver, et toute la famille qui l’entoure. Malgré les heureuses retrouvailles, Christian porte un lourd secret familial… Henry est contraint de fermer sa scierie car l’économie l’y contraint. C'est un homme aisé qui s’adresse à ses employés dans un ton arrogant et peu compatissant. Parmi le parterre d’ouvriers mécontents, Oliver ne bronche pas et acquiesce. Cette situation ne semble pas l’affecter et se veut rassurant face à sa famille. Charlotte, institutrice, accepte la situation avec positivité, tout comme sa fille Hedvig. Non loin, Walter, le père d’Oliver, évalue la situation avec un œil perplexe, lui qui sort d’une peine de prison pour une infraction judiciaire.
