Alan Swann, vedette des films de cape et d'épée, fait un come-back remarqué en cette année 1954. En effet, il doit être la vedette d'un show télévisé new-yorkais. Or celui-ci a un sacré caractère et arrive ivre-mort aux studios pour un direct devant vingt millions de télespectateurs...
