Colossus est la plus gigantesque plate-forme de forage jamais construite. Située dans les eaux glacées de l'Atlantique nord, près des côtes du Groenland, cette mégaconstruction perce le fond marin des profondeurs pour en soutirer le pétrole. Colossus inquiète grandement les géologues quant à son impact environnemental catastrophique possible. Lors du forage, une fissure sous-marine s'entrouvre et révèle un océan miroir, reclus et autosuffisant depuis des millions d'années. Un océan parrallèle de vie marine et de créatures préhistoriques. À l'intérieur, le plus grand prédateur aquatique à avoir jamais existé : le « carcharodon megalodon ».
