Freud, passions secrètes (1962)
En 1885, Sigmund Freud, jeune et fringant neurologue de l'hôpital général de Vienne, se permet de contredire le professeur Meynert, une sommité. Avec l'appui du docteur Joseph Breuer, son ami et son mentor, Freud se penche sur deux cas pathologiques qui défient la médecine. Son premier patient révèle, sous hypnose, une haine homicide pour son père et un amour incestueux pour sa mère. Ebranlé au plus profond de lui-même, Freud sent qu'il est sur la voie d'une découverte majeure et poursuit son travail. Sa seconde malade, Cecily Koertner, atteinte de névrose depuis la mort de son père, le met encore plus profondément en cause. Freud élabore sa première théorie de l'inconscient...
