4 New-Yorkaises (1992)
Queens, New York, 1969. Le jour où elle enterre Jack après 37 ans de mariage, Pearl se rend compte qu'elle a consacré sa vie à être une mère et une épouse modèle. Ses filles sont en crise : Bibby est boulimique et incapable de s'assumer, Norma est obsédée par la mort de son premier bébé et ignore son fils. C'est alors qu'entre dans sa vie un certain Joe Meledandri, qui affirme avoir été un intime de Jack, et qui se dit amoureux de Pearl. Il prend celle-ci sous son aile et la vie de tous commence à changer...
