The Child in Time (2018)
Stephen mène une existence heureuse et paisible entre les livres pour enfants qu'il publie avec succès, sa femme Julie et sa fille Kate. Sa vie bascule le jour où Kate est enlevée dans un supermarché. L'enquête de police pas plus que ses propres recherches n'aboutissent et ce drame provoque une cassure entre Julie et lui. Le chagrin le plonge dans un état dépressif et destructeur qui l'empêche d'écrire et le pousse à boire. Le seul ami qu'il continue à fréquenter, Charles, un homme brillant promis à un grand avenir politique, a lui aussi décidé de se retirer de la vie agitée de Londres.
