El Perdido (1961)
Alors qu’elle engage son gigantesque troupeau vers le Texas, la famille Breckenridge reçoit la visite de Brendan O’Malley, un aventurier que le shérif Stribling poursuit pour le meurtre de son beau-frère. Si les deux hommes pactisent le temps de convoyer les bêtes, les embûches se multiplient sur le parcours, naturelles comme une tempête de sable, guerrières comme l’attaque d’indiens rebelles. La tension monte encore lorsque O’Malley séduit la jeune Missy Breckenridge dont il ignore encore être le père. Et, peu à peu, l’inexorable tragédie approche : un duel entre l’aventurier et le shérif qui, pourtant s’estiment…
