Le train express 3104 file vers Las Vegas, bientôt détourné par un écoterroriste qui en veut à son passager le plus puissant, le sénateur du Texas en pleine campagne pour les Présidentielles. Bientôt, d’autres voyageurs indésirables s’introduisent à bord, nettement plus dangereux : de féroces et sanguinaires créatures issues d’une météorite. Si rapides qu’elles en deviennent invisibles, les prédateurs se multiplient à un rythme effrayant. L’inspecteur Vic Holden redoute qu’ils causent un carnage à l’échelle nationale. Seule solution : provoquer le crash du train pour les exterminer massivement…
