Liaisons obscures (1996)
La trentaine resplendissante, Sidney refuse de reprendre son emploi de monteuse pour se consacrer encore quelques années à son fils Adam, un garçon de cinq ans. Ce choix satisfait pleinement son mari, Matthew Carpenter, qui est obligé de voyager souvent pour son travail. Un dimanche, tandis que Sidney organise une brocante, Matthew décide d'emmener son fils faire une promenade en mer sur son voilier. Les plaisanciers sont déjà au large lorsqu'une violente tempête se lève. Sidney alerte les secours maritimes. Mais il est déjà trop tard. Le lendemain matin, les garde-côtes retrouvent les débris du bateau, ainsi qu'un vêtement de l'enfant.
