Le journaliste Tim O'Hara rêve de percer sur le petit écran. Il travaille dans une station de télévision et est pris de l'ambitieuse Brace Channing sans se rendre compte que la technicienne Lizzie l'aime en secret. Après avoir été renvoyé à la suite d'une gaffe, il tombe sur le vaisseau spatial accidenté d'un Martien.Adaptation au cinéma d'une célèbre série TV des années 60 du même nom.
