Lewis Gilbert est un réalisateur, scénariste, producteur et acteur britannique né le 6 mars 1920 à Hackney district de Londres (Royaume-Uni) et mort le 23 février 20181 à Monaco. Durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, Lewis Gilbert réalise des documentaires pour le service cinématographique de la RAF. Puis, dans les années 1950 et 1960, il se fait remarquer en mettant en scène plusieurs films de guerre, des policiers et aussi des comédies. Il est d'ailleurs récompensé à Cannes en 1966 par le prix spécial du jury pour Alfie le dragueur avec Michael Caine. Il est surtout connu pour être le réalisateur de trois grandes productions à succès de la série des James Bond : On ne vit que deux fois avec Sean Connery, ainsi que L'Espion qui m'aimait et Moonraker avec Roger Moore.
