Shelley Alexis Duvall (née le 7 juillet 1949 à Fort Worth, Texas) est une actrice de cinéma et de télévision américaine, surtout connue pour son look unique et ses rôles excentriques dans des films comme 3 femmes, Popeye, Nous sommes tous des voleurs, Brewster McCloud et Shining. Shelley, qui n'avait aucune expérience d'actrice, est découverte lors d'une soirée qu'elle organisait pour son petit ami artiste et est immédiatement choisie pour le rôle de Brewster McCloud de Robert Altman. Elle commence sa carrière dans plusieurs autres films d'Altman et reçoit le prix de la meilleure actrice au Festival de Cannes en 1977 pour sa performance dans 3 femmes. Elle joue également dans des films réalisés par Stanley Kubrick, Terry Gilliam, Jane Campion et Tim Burton. Shelley n'était pas seulement une actrice primée, mais aussi une productrice nominée aux Emmy Awards et pionnière de la télévision par câble, responsable du Faerie Tale Theatre, de Bedtime Stories et d'autres programmes adaptés aux enfants. Après être apparue dans de nombreux films et émissions dans les années 1990, Shelley quitte Hollywood et prend sa retraite du cinéma en 2002. Elle vit aux côtés de son petit ami Dan Gilroy et loin des projecteurs dans un ranch du Texas Hill Country jusqu'à son décès en 2024.
