Christina Ricci est une actrice américaine née le 12 février 1980 à Santa Monica (Californie). Révélée à l'âge de onze ans par son rôle de Mercredi Addams dans la comédie horrifique La Famille Addams (1991), de Barry Sonnenfeld. Elle reprend son rôle pour la suite Les Valeurs de la famille Addams (1993), et reste dans un registre similaire pour le film pour enfants Casper (1995). Si elle parvient ensuite à conclure la décennie 1990 avec des rôles plus mûrs - Ice Storm (1997), Buffalo '66 (1998), Sleepy Hollow (1999) -, les années 2000 sont marquées par des échecs critiques successifs. Seuls se détachent les très sombres Monster (2003), porté par la performance de Charlize Theron, et Black Snake Moan (2006), dont elle partage l'affiche avec Samuel L. Jackson. Elle finit par faire des apparitions dans des séries télévisées à succès, et même tenter de s'imposer dans un rôle régulier. Mais Pan Am (2011-2012) et Z: The Beginning of Everything (2015-2017) ne dépassent pas une courte saison. C'est en Australie qu'elle parvient à regagner les faveurs de la critique, en tête d'affiche du drame indépendant Around the Block (2013), écrit et réalisé par Sarah Spillane. Elle crée sa première compagnie de production à dix-sept ans, Blaspheme Films qu'elle a depuis remplacé par Functioning Films.
