L'acteur de cinéma américain Joaquin Rafael Phoenix, né Joaquin Rafael Bottom s'est aventuré derrière la caméra, réalisant des clips musicaux, produisant des films et des émissions de télévision. Phoenix a enregistré un album, la bande originale de "Walk the Line". Il est également connu pour son travail d'activiste social, en particulier en tant que défenseur des droits des animaux. Phoenix a d'abord occupé des postes d'acteur dans deux émissions de télévision avec son frère. Il fait ses débuts sur grand écran dans Cap sur les étoiles (1986), jouant le rôle de Max. Son premier rôle principal fut dans Russkies (1987). Phoenix a été l'un des producteurs exécutifs de l'émission de télévision 4Real, une série d'une demi-heure qui met en vedette des célébrités invitées dans le cadre d'aventures mondiales. Il figure également sur la liste des producteurs du film La Nuit nous appartient (2007).
