Ogni giorno Jay percorre Tokyo in lungo e in largo a bordo del suo taxi alla ricerca di sua figlia Lily. Nei 9 anni trascorsi da quando si è separato dalla moglie, non è mai riuscito ad ottenere la custodia di sua figlia. Avendo rinunciato alla speranza di rivederla, sta per tornare in Francia quando Lily salta sul suo taxi. Ma lei non lo riconosce.
