Il valzer del pesce freccia (1993)
Un giovanotto di New York è chiamato in Arizona dallo zio Leo che vuole insegnargli la fede nei pilastri del modo americano di vivere. Axel, invece, s'innamora di una bizzarra donna matura che potrebbe essere sua madre e di cui condivide il sogno di volare su un velivolo senza motore, e fa amicizia con altri irregolari. Gli hanno rimproverato di essere autoindulgente, prolisso, tedioso, troppo stravagante, troppo originale, ondivago, impervio nel suo onirico surrealismo. L'hanno elogiato quasi per gli stessi motivi, e inoltre per la splendida direzione degli attori (i sorprendenti L. Taylor e V. Gallo, ma anche una Dunaway in gran forma e un Lewis insolito). Morale: se volete vedere qualcosa di diverso, è il film per voi. In un primo tempo distribuito in Italia come Il valzer del pesce freccia senza successo. Rimesso in circolazione nel 1998 col titolo originale.
