La vera storia di "Crazy" Joe Clark, un ex campione di baseball chiamato a dirigere il liceo Eastside di Paterson, New Jersey, frequentato da studenti drogati, violenti e corrotti. Nonostante l'opposizione ai suoi metodi estremamente rigidi da parte delle istituzioni, delle famiglie e del corpo insegnante, Clark riuscirà a riportare la disciplina nella scuola e ad infondere negli studenti la speranza per un futuro migliore.
