Il solista (2009)
2005. Steve Lopez, giornalista del Los Angeles Times, ha due problemi: una rovinosa caduta dalla bicicletta gli ha temporaneamente deturpato mezzo viso e, soprattutto, è a corto di idee per i suoi articoli che sono in presa diretta sulla realtà. Un giorno incontra del tutto casualmente Nathaniel Ayers, un homeless affetto da disturbi psichici che però sa suonare benissimo un violino con due sole corde. Lopez ha così trovato l'ispirazione per i suoi pezzi che riscuotono successo e, al contempo, decide di darsi da fare per Ayers e per quelli che vivono nelle sue condizioni. Inizia con il procuragli un violoncello (strumento che Nathaniel ha studiato) e a cercare di riconciliarlo con il mondo superando i propri fantasmi. Non sarà un'impresa facile.
