Notte di bivacco (1947)
Il furbo giocatore d'azzardo James Wylie (Dennis Morgan) viene arrestato dalla legge e gli viene data la possibilità di rinunciare a una pena detentiva se si finge un bandito. La sua missione è scoprire l'identità del Poeta, un famigerato fuorilegge che ha assaltato diligenze di proprietà della banca e lasciato versi sulle scene del crimine per deridere le autorità. James trova il tempo di corteggiare la bella moglie del Poeta, Ann (Jane Wyman), che inizialmente lo respinge con freddezza. Ma, quando si sviluppa una storia d'amore, i due si alleano per trovare il rapinatore.
