New York. Un nuovo serial killer sta seminando morti e panico per la città. Apparentemente, l'assassino non segue un filo conduttore logico e sembra che uccida le sua vittime in modo pressoché casuale. Breslin, il detective che si sta occupando del caso, intuisce però, che la soluzione del caso potrebbe trovarsi dietro la "La leggenda dei 4 Cavalieri dell'Apocalisse" e che le tracce lasciate dal killer sulla scena del crimine potrebbero farne anticipare le mosse future. Man mano che si sviluppa la vicenda però, Breslin, scopre che le vittime sono legate da un elemento in comune e che, con tutta sorpresa, lo stesso porta dritto dritto a lui...
