Nuvole passeggere (1946)
Jerome Kern ha il sogno di diventare famoso come compositore di musica per spettacoli di rivista. Quando conosce il noto direttore d'orchestra James Hessler, i due entrano subito in sintonia, così James invita Jerome a raggiungerlo in Inghilterra, dove le opportunità sono maggiori. La musica di Jerome ha un immediato successo e in breve diventa famoso. A Londra Jerome conosce Eva, una ragazza di buona famiglia, se ne innamora e la sposa. La vita dei due amici va avanti senza scosse e la loro amicizia si cementa sempre più. La figlia di James, Sally, mentre è in collegio per compiere gli studi, senza dirlo a suo padre, fugge per realizzare il sogno di diventare una cantante di rivista. Anche Jerome tenta di dissuaderla, ma alla fine cede e compone per lei una canzone. Nessun impresario la scrittura e Sally ne rimane sconvolta. Il cuore di James non riesce a sopportare il dispiacere e muore. Toccherà a Jerome ricercare Sally, diventata cantante, e aiutarla a trovare la sua strada.
