Aiutato dalla splendida moglie Aileen e dai tre figli, John Crowley è sul punto di vedere realizzata la sua rivalsa da ex operaio nell'America delle grandi aziende ed è finalmente vicino ad assaporare il successo. Ma proprio quando la sua carriera sta per decollare viene diagnosticata ai due figli più piccoli, Megan e Patrik, una rara malattia genetica.
