Il dottor Jekyll e Mr. Hyde (1941)
Londra. Il giovane medico Harry Jekyll, fidanzato con la bella Beatrix, si scontra con il padre di lei, sostenendo in una discussione che l'essere umano è diviso a metà tra il Bene e il Male. Mentre Beatrix è in viaggio con il padre, una sere Jekyll incontra una mantenuta, Ivy, salvandola da un cliente invadente. Successivamente si intrattiene con lei. La stessa notte, rientrando nel suo studio, sperimenta su di sé una pozione precedentemente preparata, che lo trasforma in un essere ripugnante dall'aspetto scimmiesco, da lui battezzato Mr. Hyde, il quale si aggira nei dintorni senza far sospettare che si tratta di Jekyll. La sua violenza si fa ia via incontrollabile, ed è così che Jekyll / Hyde uccide prima Ivy, poi il padre di Beatrix tornato da lei dall'Europa. Mortalmente ferito dalla polizia, in punto di morte ridiventa Jekyll e confessa a Beatrix il suo segreto.
