Queen of Katwe (2016)
Dalla sua abitazione nella baraccopoli di Katwe, in Uganda, la giovanissima Phiona Mutesi non vede molto se non indigenza, nonostante la madre Harriet lavori sodo vendendo verdure per vestire e nutrire i figli. Quando un missionario ed ex calciatore di nome Robert inizia a insegnare ai bambini del posto come giocare a scacchi, Phiona dimostra dimestichezza con la disciplina. Riconoscendo il suo talento, Robert la prende sotto la sua ala protettiva. Nonostante i dubbi della madre, Phiona capirà presto che la sua passione per gli scacchi potrà aiutare a migliorare la vita della sua famiglia.
