Solstizio d'estate (2000)
Ad Hanoi nei nostri giorni, tre sorelle si incontrano per celebrare l'anniversario della morte della madre. Molto affiatate tra loro, le tre giovani passano una giornata serena in cui è evidente la complicità e l'affetto tra di loro. Ma nessuna apre il cuore per svelare il proprio segreto alle altre. Suong, la maggiore, proprietaria del bar in cui lavora anche la sorella Lien di 23 anni, ha un marito le cui assenze per motivi di lavoro, celano un segreto. Il marito di Khanh, la terza sorella, di nome Kien, è uno scrittore che lavora soprattutto in casa. Ma un viaggio a Saigon lo allontana da Hanoi e dalla moglie per un paio di giorni. Lien, infine, desidera un marito che abbia le stesse doti del fratello Hai, cui è legata da un rapporto intriso di troppe ambiguità. Tempo dopo questo incontro, ognuna delle tre sorelle avrà detto all'altra tutto quello che la vergogna e la delicatezza delle relazioni familiari avevano tenuto nascosto.
