Roland Dalton, avvocato di successo e promesso sposo della ricca e affascinante Gail, decide di aiutare la sua ex fidanzata Susan che ha intrapreso la difesa di un trafficante di stupefacenti accusato dell'omicidio di un poliziotto. In realtà Roland non dovrebbe assolutamente farsi coinvolgere in quello che rischia di diventare un caso scomodo e negativo per la sua brillante carriera. Ma Susan è decisamente carina mentre Gail, malgrado lo charme e i soldi, è una che crede che Jimy Hendrix fosse un cantante heavy-metal.
