Botta senza risposta (1950)
Mr. Waters è una brava persona e un pozzo di scienza. Ma l'imbecillità del mondo non gli ha mai permesso di trovare un impiego all'altezza delle sue qualità. Partecipa allora a una trasmissione radio, sponsorizzata da una grossa industria, una specie di "Lascia o raddoppia?", però senza domanda finale (se il candidato vuole può raddoppiare all'infinito). Il dirigente della società, che ha paura di essere sbancato, gli butta fra le braccia una bella bionda. Il nostro la gradisce ma continua a giocare e a vincere. Quando smette ha guadagnato abbastanza per prendere il posto del dirigente marpione.
