La fine del mondo è vicina ma Ethan Hunt non è lontano e riparte da dove aveva lasciato. Recuperata una preziosa chiave crociata, deve raggiungere adesso il Sevastopol, un sottomarino nucleare russo, distrutto dall'Intelligenza Artificiale, che giace sotto la calotta polare.
