La conversazione (1974)
Specialista in intercettazioni, che ha sempre vissuto immerso nel lavoro, scopre di avere una coscienza, di essere responsabile di quello che fa, di essere prima complice e poi vittima. Palma d'oro a Cannes e designato agli Oscar (film, regia), è un thriller che anticipa i tempi (Watergate) e le mode, rimanda al cinema di Antonioni (fotografia funzionale di Bill Butler), ma anche agli incubi allucinati di un Kafka tecnologicamente aggiornato. Uno dei migliori film USA degli anni '70 con un G. Hackman perfetto come antieroe dell'era elettronica. Apparizione non accreditata di Robert Duvall.
