La vita è dura per un uomo colpito dalla disoccupazione. Si ritrova da un giorno all'altro senza assicurazione sanitaria, con molti debiti ed una moglie sempre alla ricerca di soldi. La sua vita di provincia si sta rapidamente trasformando in un incubo, e il matrimonio è sull'orlo del collasso totale. Quando il suo socio in affari Gal si auto-invita per una cena, diventa chiaro che lui è lì per fare pressione su Jay per un nuovo incarico. Jay si ritrova nel gioco, con la promessa di una grande ricompensa dopo tre omicidi, ma ben presto le cose iniziano a svelare lati negativi e la sua paranoia lo immerge direttamente nel cuore delle tenebre
