In un pacifico villaggio irlandese di pescatori, da qualche tempo si verificano degli strani avvenimenti che turbano la popolazione. Dopo che alcuni pescatori sono scomparsi nel nulla senza lasciare traccia e che sulle spiagge si sono riversate le carcasse di alcuni esemplari di balene, alcune persone hanno trovato la morte in circostanze sospette. Due strampalati poliziotti - un alcolizzato e una agente che viene dall'hinterland - cercano di far luce sull'accaduto, scoprendo che all'origine di tutto vi è l'invasione di alcuni alieni giganteschi e imbattibili. Con un po' di fortuna, scoprono anche che l'unica arma capace di distruggerli è l'alcol e invitano perciò la gente a bere il più possibile per respingere il loro attacco.
