L'implacabile (1987)
Entro il 2017, l'economia globale è crollata e la società americana è diventata uno stato di polizia totalitario, censurando ogni attività culturale. Il governo tranquillizza la popolazione trasmettendo una serie di programmi televisivi in cui criminali condannati lottano per la vita, tra cui The Running Man, in stile gladiatore, condotto dallo spietato Damon Killian, in cui i "corridori" tentano di sfuggire agli "stalker" e alla morte certa per avere la possibilità di essere graziati e liberati.
