Matthew David McConaughey (nato il 4 novembre 1969) è un attore americano. Si fece notare per la prima volta per la sua interpretazione di supporto nella commedia di formazione Dazed and Confused (1993), considerata da molti il suo ruolo di svolta. Dopo diversi ruoli di supporto in film come Angels in the Outfield (1994) e Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994), la sua interpretazione di svolta come protagonista arrivò nel dramma legale A Time to Kill (1996). Ha seguito con interpretazioni da protagonista nel film di fantascienza Contact (1997), nel dramma storico Amistad (1997), nella commedia drammatica The Newton Boys (1998), nella satira EDtv (1999), nel film di guerra U-571 (2000) e nel thriller psicologico Frailty (2001). Negli anni 2000, McConaughey è diventato noto soprattutto per aver recitato in commedie romantiche, tra cui The Wedding Planner (2001), How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003), Failure to Launch (2006), Fool's Gold (2008) e Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009), diventando così un simbolo sessuale.
