Rock Hudson (nato Roy Harold Scherer Jr.; 17 novembre 1925 – 2 ottobre 1985) è stato un attore americano. Una delle star del cinema più popolari del suo tempo, ha avuto una carriera cinematografica che si è estesa per oltre tre decenni. Un protagonista di spicco nell'età d'oro di Hollywood, raggiunse la fama con il suo ruolo in Magnificent Obsession (1954), seguito da All That Heaven Allows (1955) e Giant (1956), per il quale ricevette una nomination all'Oscar come miglior attore. Hudson trovò anche successo continuo con una serie di commedie romantiche al co-protagonista di Doris Day: Pillow Talk (1959), Lover Come Back (1961) e Send Me No Flowers (1964). Alla fine degli anni '60, i suoi film includevano Secondi (1966), Tobruk (1967) e Ice Station Zebra (1968). Insoddisfatto delle sceneggiature cinematografiche che gli furono proposte, Hudson si rivolse alla televisione e ebbe successo, recitando nella popolare serie gialla McMillan & Wife (1971–1977). Il suo ultimo ruolo fu come guest star nella quinta stagione (1984–1985) della soap opera in prima serata della ABC Dynasty, fino a quando una malattia legata all'AIDS gli rese impossibile proseguire. Sebbene discreto riguardo al suo orientamento sessuale, era un fatto noto tra i colleghi di Hudson nell'industria cinematografica che fosse un uomo gay. Nel 1984, a Hudson fu diagnosticato l'AIDS.
