Limerick City, Munster, Ireland:
Richard St John Francis Harris (1 ottobre 1930 – 25 ottobre 2002) è stato un attore e cantante irlandese. Apparve a teatro e in molti film, in particolare come Corrado Zeller in Red Desert di Michelangelo Antonioni, Frank Machin in This Sporting Life, per il quale fu nominato all'Oscar come miglior attore, e come Re Arthuro nel film Camelot del 1967, oltre che nella ripresa del musical teatrale del 1981. Interpretò un aristocratico inglese catturato dai Sioux in A Man Called Horse (1970), Oliver Cromwell in Cromwell (1970), un contadino irlandese assediato in The Field di Jim Sheridan (che gli valse una seconda nomination all'Oscar come miglior attore), Bob inglese nel western revisionista Unforgiven di Clint Eastwood (1992), l'imperatore romano Marco Aurelio in Gladiatore (2000), Il Conte di Montecristo (2002) nel ruolo dell'abate Faria, e Albus Silente nei primi due film di Harry Potter: Harry Potter e la pietra filosofale (2001) e Harry Potter e la camera dei segreti (2002), quest'ultimo dei quali fu il suo ultimo ruolo cinematografico. Harris ottenne un successo numero uno in Australia, Giamaica e Canada, e un successo nella top ten nel Regno Unito, Irlanda e Stati Uniti con la sua registrazione del 1968 della canzone di Jimmy Webb "MacArthur Park". Nel 2020 è stato inserito al terzo posto nella lista dei più grandi attori cinematografici irlandesi di The Irish Times.
