Sir Michael John Gambon (19 ottobre 1940 – 27 settembre 2023) è stato un attore irlandese-inglese. Gambon ha iniziato la sua carriera di attore con Laurence Olivier come uno dei membri originali del Royal National Theatre. Nel corso della sua carriera di sei decenni, ha ricevuto tre Olivier Awards e quattro BAFTA TV Awards. Nel 1998 è stato nominato cavaliere dalla regina Elisabetta II per i servizi resi al teatro. Gambon è apparso in molte produzioni di opere di William Shakespeare come Otello, Amleto, Macbeth e Coriolano. Gambon è stato nominato per tredici Olivier Awards, vincendo tre volte per A Chorus of Disapproval (1985), A View from the Bridge (1987) e Man of the Moment (1990). Nel 1997, Gambon ha fatto il suo debutto a Broadway in Skylight di David Hare, guadagnandosi un Tony Award come miglior attore in un'opera teatrale. Gambon ha fatto il suo debutto cinematografico in Otello (1965). Gambon ha ottenuto un riconoscimento più ampio grazie al suo ruolo di Albus Silente nella serie di film di Harry Potter dal 2004 al 2011, sostituendo Richard Harris dopo la sua morte nel 2002.
